What is pesäpallo?
Finnish Baseball, so-called pesäpallo, is Finland’s national sport and is played all over the country. Pesäpallo was created in the early 1900s by Lauri Pihkala. The game is similar to baseball, but the rules are not quite the same.

Pesäpallo is a year-round sport. Training and activities continue throughout the year, but most games and tournaments are played in the summer. In winter, we train indoors in school gyms and indoor sports halls.
Equipment:
Ball – quite similar size to a baseball but harder than a tennis ball
Bat – to hit the ball
Glove – to catch the ball
Helmet – to protect the head when batting and running
